I have been playing Skyrim Legendary Edition.  All the DLC and modded on Steam.  I am addicted.  The game play can be sketchy with the mods and my system isn't the greatest in the world to run the game.  I will have some screens up and as soon as I get the sound figured out in FRAPS I'll have some video up.  FRAPS has been doing 30 second video shorts so I have to get that tweaked out.  More coming soon.  Its about time I can put some attention on this blog as well as my other two.

Thanks

Havent posted in here in a really long time.  I got caught up in FatGuy Running and real life.  I have been playing a good many games.  Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition.  Fallout New Vegas vanilla. Skyrim. Star Wars the Old Republic, Knights of the Old Republic 2, XCOM game pack.  Like all of them.  I have been having a lot of fun.  I also got a new job from home doing virtually what I was doing.  I work tech support on video and i do billing for Comcast from home.  Meniere's really messed my getting out and working thing up pretty good.
I'm enjoying it for the most part though.  Have a lot going on in life at the moment.  Also working on two writing projects.  A Science Fiction book, my FIRST foray into the genre.  I'm also trying to complete The Journey of Three Backpacks: Hiking to Paradox.  Its a photo anthology of our hiking experiences in Mississippi.
So thats what has been going on,  I hope to get some screens of the games I have been playing and maybe one day get Fraps or another movie maker going for my games so i can do some Let's Plays.

Halo 4 baby.  New vehicles, new race, new everything.  From what I have been able to see this is going to rock your socks off.  I cannot WAIT for the release.  Of course I will need to have a 360 by that time, LOL.  Since we don't have one yet.  This is the biggest game I am waiting for on the horizon though.

There is one other game that I am oh so anxious for also, though not as much as Halo 4.  That is Xcom, the newest reinvention of the greatest game ever. Xcom Enemy Unknown.  Watch for it.  This will be one of the most bad ass games to come out this year.

Pics below preview both Halo 4 and XCOM Enemy Unknown.  I absolutely cannot wait for either of these games.  I have a LOT of upgrading to do before I can play either of them but if you are a Halo fan or a  fan of squad based tactic games then these two are for you.

More to come as I get it.
Today I want to preview another great game.  I love FPS games, though not as much as squad based tactics games.  I have played this game for a few years now and it hasn't gotten old yet.  The game is FallOut 3.  The graphics are phenomenal, the gameplay is intense, and you can go in any direction you want to go.  I love it.  When I first got the game my computer would not run it and I had to use the girlfriends computer.  This lowered my play time immensely.  She was very gracious however and I was able to get addicted really quickly.
My first character was a goody two shoes who had a halo.  I didn't steal or murder anyone, I followed all the rules and played the main storyline.  It was an awesome ride.  After that I kind of laid back and decided to play a Chaotic Neutral character.  I would steal sometimes but would help someone else out to get my karma back in check.  I wanted to stay just a little below neutral.  It was still a very fun ride and I got to do some things and open up some options that I hadn't had as a Lawful Good player.
My next ride was something completely different let me tell you.  I went Chaotic Evil to the hilt.  Anything and anyone was open game.  I murdered, stole, and threatened my way to the top of my game.  I had slavers paying me just because I was so bad ass.  THIS was the ultimate gameplay.  I had way more fun and got to see a whole new side of the game.  I told everyone to piss off and did it my way.  I blew up towns, captured escaped slaves, murdered caravans and stole their stuff, MAN it was a blast.
The game is still on my computer although right now my video card won't run it.  I am in need of a new computer so I can get my Steam library going and my disk games running.  I have Skyrim, FallOut3, Oblivion, and a few others that just won't play because of my graphics.  There is even a Diablo 3 around here somewhere.  But I can't play any of them.  I'm still playing XCOM UFO Defense.  I digress though.

FallOut 3 is a very enjoyable game and has tons of different ways it can be played.  It give hours and hours of total enjoyment.  FOUR STARS.

So I have Fat Guy Running which is a personal journey that is incorporated into my Extreme Mississippi Sports and Games Ezine.  On this blog I will review and talk about nothing but games.  The games I'm playing, the games I am waiting to come out, and all games both past and present that I have enjoyed.

Today I am going to preview a classic game.  One that I played years ago and have just now been able to play again.  XCom UFO Defense!  One of the greatest squad based games ever.  It has been voted number 1 many times.  I played this game and as a matter of fact I still have this game for the PS1.  I loved it then and am seriously loving it now.  There is also a lot of fan fiction out there and some of those guys can write the stories about the game pretty well.  I have really enjoyed them too while playing Xcom.

Now, not sure if you know but there is a NEW Xcom coming out later this year based off the original.  From what I have seen it is going to be epic.  The screens from it were very impressive and I can't wait to see it in action for real.  But don't want to stray from this blog too much.  The original Xcom came out in 1994 published by Microprose and it was phenomenal.  The game is set up as a time based, squad based, strategy and tactical game.  You proceed through the game by researching, building, and using new technologies you get from the aliens and you try and keep the world protected while defeating them.  The culmination is a trip to Mars and a shot at killing the "brain" to ultimately defeat the aliens.

I started out with 8 guys and some of Earths finest weapons and ships and quickly got my butt kicked, lol.  But as I went further into the game I was able to get the armor and weapons to make my people live longer and kill easier.  I personally like to name my little soldiers after my friends and characters in my books.  As you progress your soldiers (that survive) also "level up".  Their skills improve, their health and bravery improve and soon they become really good troopers.

So this is my first game review and its an old favorite of mine.  I will get better at this the more I do.  So I will leave you with a few screenshots of this awesome trip down "awesome game lane".

These screenshots are from a game, not mine though.  My graphics card is on the fritz right now so I am having to improvise.  Enjoy none the less.
